I strive to impact the lives of my clients so that they can become the absolute best version of who they were meant to be — for themselves, their family, their workplace, their relationships, and their community. I can’t take away your past experiences or the inevitable challenges that will always be part of life, but I can guide you to new insights, help you heal from your past, teach you tangible skills for coping, and assist you to discover your strengths.

I’m passionate about what I do. It’s a privilege to be able to walk alongside my clients, to hold space during the hard times and to celebrate with them when they start to heal.

my approach

I aim to bring a steady and calm presence where you know you are always supported no matter what point of the journey you’re on. I’ll remind you to be gentle and compassionate with yourself and that the journey is rewarding. I will be your biggest cheerleader by reminding you how important it is to celebrate the small wins on your path to wholeness and healing.

When you engage in therapy, you are making an investment of time, resources, and effort. You should expect no less from your therapist. I ALWAYS come prepared to sessions by making sure I am learning the best techniques to help you. When I’m not in session on a work day, you can usually find me reading, consulting with other therapists, listening to therapy podcasts, or enrolling in relevant trainings to be a better clinician.

Everything we do in session is purposeful and relevant to your healing and growth.

Find Support, Find Strength, Find You — Therapy That Understands Women

Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, so I use an evidence-based integrative approach. From the initial phone consultation to the intake session, we work collaboratively to help you achieve your goals. I listen to what my clients hope to gain from therapy and to understand their personality. While I generally use a blended style, if you are looking for something specific, I will lean heavily on that.

There is no band aid therapy here. I am a firm believer in assessing from a holistic and historic perspective. We will dive deep to discover how past patterns and experiences have shaped your current struggles so that you can step into a future with confidence, clarity, and hope. I utilize CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to help clients understand how thoughts impact emotions and behaviors. I use DBT (Dialectial Behavioral Therapy) when a client needs a structured approach with a lot of accountability. I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) when a client is experiencing distress in the present due to events from their past and they want the gentleness of EMDR — like balm for an old wound.

With all these therapies, the goal is to help you live an authentic, hope-filled life.

my experience and qualifications

Laura smiles while holding a laptop in an office. She's wearing a white shirt and brown pants.

I earned a Bachelor’s in Political Science from Southwestern University and wanted to give back, so I became a teacher. My career as an educator and Montessori guide has shaped how I show up as a counselor.

I earned my Master’s in School Counseling later in life and returned to public school. I worked at all levels (K-12) as a school counselor, but was always drawn to the mental health aspect of school counseling. I transitioned to a group mental health practice where I was able to offer individual therapy to children, teens, and adults.

I’m DBT-trained, as well as EMDR-trained. I’m currently pursuing EMDR certification with an EMDRIA approved consultant. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (#88161) in the State of Texas.
